Take your performance to the next level by equipping your body and mind with the tools you need to perform at your best.
Musicians spend a lifetime building their technique, sound and stage presence.
What often gets left out is understanding how the body works to create your art and sound, which often leads to bad habits, poor posture and injuries (gulp). You forget about the most important instrument of them all.... Your body!
As a ABPTS Board Certified Orthopedic Physical Therapist and Doctor of Physical Therapy with over 10 years of experience and even longer as a musician, I've helped artists from all around the world across all genres and skill levels, work to recover from injuries, improve their physical fitness and performance in a safe and healthy way. One thing my clients all had in common: They wanted to learn more about the body. Musicians are highly trained and use their bodies in unique ways. This course is designed to introduce human anatomy and mechanics to musicians in the framework that applies greatest to them as artists. You will learn how the puzzle pieces fit together "under the hood" that allows you to create your art, how the body adapts, how having "good posture" is not as simple as just sitting up straight.
This course is designed for:
Artists who want to understand how to improve flexibility and strength
Music educators who want to understand how students' bodies work, start integrating healthy habits and maximize performance for their students.
Musicians who are looking to improve their form and posture and use their bodies more efficiently
Instrumentalists of all genres and instruments and skill levels
Musicians at any stage of their wellness journey
Artists who have a history of playing-related injuries and want to take the first steps to understand how they develop and steps that they can take to prevent them from recurring.
Over 8 virtual group sessions, you will learn relevant anatomy and body mechanics necessary to understanding how your body works and give you the foundation needed to promote a long and healthy career.
These courses will be offered live and updated with new information and examples every cohort. All participants will have lifetime access to the content and Facebook group as well as an open invitation to join any future Anatomy 101 courses.
